California is in a serious drought and has been for the past few years. So the beautiful fountains on Stanford campus have been turned off for at least since we’ve been here. We’ve never seen a drop. But for a week around graduation time Stanford turns the fountains back on! My boys haven’t been able to take swimming lessons yet so things like splash pad parks and sprinklers, etc. are perfect for us. Especially since summer is already starting out hot hot hot (pregnancy in summer, lemme tell you…). So on Saturday (John’s first free saturday since I can remember!!) we loaded up and took the boys to the fountain for all of their splashing and water fight itches to be scratched! It was pure bliss. And of course I didn’t get any pictures of myself…..
James had been feeling crummy all week and the sun and water was just what he needed. We were so happy to see him smiling again.
Charlie could not have been cuter. He kept trying to lift me off the edge of the fountain to go and splash around with him. He kept yelling at me, “Down! Cum’mon!” He would even get behind me and push my bum to try to get me to budge. Of course I couldn’t resist, even though I wasn’t in a suit (or even own one that fits me right now–although I’m fully prepared to invest in a bikini to live in this summer and I’ve never owned a bikini in my life!!). Here^^ he would just lie down right in the water like he was sun bathing, like it was just him, the sun and the water in his own little world.
Dads are so much more fun and adventurous than moms, at least in our family. So grateful these boys have their best friend dad to teach them to live in the moment and seize joy!
