Recipe: Croissant Bread Pudding

croissant pudding

This is the most decadent, gorgeous, mouth watering dessert I have ever tasted.  It is, hands down, my all time favorite.  I request it for my birthday every year and make it a lot for showers, parties, and get togethers.  It will change your life!  The recipe is pretty straight forward but it calls for a water bath and If you’re new to baking you might night know what that is.  So I’ve included a picture for your reference:

Ingredients
  1. 12 petite croissants (or 6-9 Large)
  2. 2 cups cream
  3. 2 cups milk
  4. 3/4 cup sugar
  5. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  6. 1 egg
  7. caramel sauce of your liking
Instructions
  1. Tear the croissants up in medium chunks and place in a medium-sized baking dish. Set aside.
  2. In a medium sauce pan, combine cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly so it doesn't burn, and until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Immediately remove from heat.
  4. Transfer into a pitcher or bowl and put milk mixture into the fridge to cool completely, about 1 hour.
  5. Once cooled, whisk egg in small dish and stir into cooled milk mixture.
  6. Pour over croissants and bake at 350 in a water bath* for about 40 minutes, or until an inserted knife comes out clean.
  7. SERVE HOT WITH CARAMEL SAUCE!
Notes
  1. *For a water bath, place the dish of bread pudding in a larger dish or rimmed cookie sheet and then fill the larger dish with water. See picture in blog post for reference.
