Gratitude part 30: soldiers

This photo was taken in 2012 and was the first time all of my siblings were together in years.  Life has taken us different places– geographically, emotionally, tribulation-ally–but never away from each other.  We’ll be together again this holiday season (first time since this photo!) and I cannot wait for the reunion.  We may not have always gotten along with each other as we were growing up, but everything we’ve experienced in our little family has brought us closer than my parents could have ever expected or hoped, I’m sure. I’ve missed these humans as I’ve been living in California away from them.  But what we have knows no state boundaries.

Some of my favorite thoughts on siblings (found here):

“Siblings.  What a tricky bunch.  One minute you love them, the other minute you seriously question their sanity (I would add ‘while still loving them…’).  But in the end, very few will be there for you as your siblings will.  They know where you come from and why you are the way you are.  They know your heart.  Always be their soldier.”
