John finished his last final of his undergraduate career EVER on Thursday and I wanted to make a big deal about it. I didn’t have a ton of time but knew that he would enjoy a special dinner waiting for him when he arrived home, and I obviously couldn’t not make him his favorite dessert (which is conveniently my favorite dessert, too!).
So while the kiddos were napping, I through together his celebratory cake and dinner and made a wee bunting for the cake to show him that I put a little extra effort into it all. It wasn’t super fancy, but it didn’t need to be in order to make John feel celebrated. All he needed was to know that we were doing something especially for him. A little can go a long way when you want to accomplish that. I guess that’s my whole point with the “Spoil Your Spouse” initiative—you don’t have to make it big and fancy shmancy in order for it to feel big and fancy shmancy. Of course, big and fancy shmancy has it’s place, but really all it takes is a little conscientious loving.
For dinner I made him:
Korean Beef on a bed of rice
Asparagus tips in a balsamic butter sauce
a baked sweet potato with butter and brown sugar
And for dessert I made him (us) a blueberry crumble cake with lemon glaze. Who wants some recipes???
