1/30 Things: 20 Randoms

{To know what I’m talking about, start here…}

1. List 20 random facts about yourself.

1. I am a Mormon and think you should be one too. {wink wink}
2. JW and I only dated three months before we got engaged, and we only had a five-week engagement.  Technically we knew each other for a year before that, though, but not well at all.
3. I grew up playing competitive tennis and spent years traveling the
intermountain west playing in tournaments.  At one point I was ranked third in the intermountain west in my age division.  But I never really loved tennis, I was just naturally good enough to do well at it.
4. I am the third of six children, and definitely am the middle child even though I share that spot with my little sister.
5. I drive a gold 1997 Saturn with a huge dent in the hood and missing rearview mirror on the right side. I really shouldn’t have nice things….
6. I graduated in intimate relationship communication and would love to answer
any questions you have about how you can improve your communication
in your intimate relationships.
7. I served a mission for my Church in Ireland. It was an incredible experience. I’ve also been to Peru, Bolivia, Germany, Switzerland, England, Mexico, and Canada.
8. I detest body hair.  I shave my arms, but will go days without shaving my arm pits because they get super itchy the following few days after I do.
9. I used to perform in musical productions.  I was the lead in Little Shop of Horror, Footloose, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat in high school and performed at Lagoon for the 2004 season, but haven’t really done anything aside from singing at Church meetings since. I might try to revisit that part of me again one day.  I’m itching to play Evita.
10. I looooooove throwing dinner parties and entertaining in any way.
11. I gained 70 pounds in my pregnancy and have lost 64 pounds in the five months since James’ birth.
12.  I love grandma perfume and wear it liberally even though it creeps John out.
13.  I could live off of mac and cheese and breakfast sandwiches for the rest of my life, especially because there are so many different ways to make them.
14.  My lucky number is 27, and my birthday is 11/27.  I will often look at the clock and it will be 11:27 {this seriously happens at least four times a week}.  My son’s birthday is 7/27/11, and you can imagine how happy that makes me.
15. I use mens deodorant in hopes that it won’t irritate me pits as much {see #8}.
16.  I can, and often do, break into song at any given moment if something reminds me of a particular song.
17.  I used to be a member of the Utah Calligraphic Association, but haven’t kept up on my calligraphy very well.  I do love good handwriting, though.
18.  It’s only been within the last year that I have stopped watching “That’s So Raven” on Saturday mornings, mainly because I can sleep in on Saturday mornings after the week of getting up with James at night.  If I had Tivo I’d probably still watch it…
19. One of my goals is to someday write a children’s book entitled “There’s an Elephant in Eesky” about a little Irish boy with a big imagination.  Please don’t steal my idea.
20. Every time someone asks me where I shop because they admire what I’m wearing, I’m always wearing something from the thrift store {Nobody appreciates my expensive clothes… perhaps there is a lesson to be learned in this?}.  I do love me a good thrift find and find it hard to stay away from my local D.I..  I really may have a problem… A problem that I LOVE.

Tune in tomorrow: Describe three legitimate fears you have and explain how they became fears.

    You mentioned in #6 improving communication in relationships. I wouldn’t say my fiance and I have communication issue; however, he is in the military and we’re lucky if we get break a 5 minute phone conversation each night. Any suggestions on how to make 5 minutes seem like more??? It seems like we repeat I love you’s and I miss you’s which are sweet, but repetitive when that’s all you hear for weeks on end. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Use DOVE deodorant! I used to have the itchy pit thing too, and I found DOVE works wonders. Especially if you put it on right after you shave:)

    I think it’s a great idea to get to know yourself better! I love the list of 30 questions. I’m going to try this out and have the Mr. do it too. Can’t wait to learn more things!

    I think it’s really awesome that you put your religion as your number 1 fact! I respect that. That definately says a lot about the person you are! I too am Mormon (wink wink) and happened to find your blog via pintrest… Really sweet idea!

    KDB2BAFWife–I just found this blog and am catching up on the list, but I saw your question and thought maybe I could help. My husband and I are approaching our 2nd anniversary, and we use the questions in this book to prompt discussion when we’ve both had those blah days and don’t have agendas or events of our own to talk about. It’s great for dinners out too, before the food comes–I would suggest just a question per phone call, or maybe even one of you could answer it one call and then the other one answer it the next time you talk, if you’re really short on time. They are really fun–some of the questions are very light and simple, but others are deeper and a bit more probing. All good for strengthening a relationship!

    I just found you on pinterest…and I love this idea! So I’ll be joining you on this adventure. Although…I may not be on top of the everyday thing. Hopefully though!

    Hi, I was wondering you said in #6 that you “graduated in intimate relationship communication” what school did you attend? I would love to major in that I was just unsure that it was even something you could major in.
