Giving Thanks, part 14: My Boys

Today I am grateful for JW and Jameser.  Words cannot describe they joy they bring into my life.

We gave James his first haircut tonight.  The skullet is gone!  However, due to Mommy’s lack of barber skills his hair is now patchy and uneven.  But it’s not like we were used to his hair looking good or anything, so we don’t mind that it looks like he cut it himself.  Plus he has a new crop of {blonde!} hair growing in now, so it’ll even out sooner than later.  Pictures forthcoming.

John and I have been working on our marriage lately.  With a baby it is easy to forget to focus on nurturing our marriage, and I’ve found that it is more important now than ever to concentrate on keeping our marriage fun and flirty.  We have talked a little about how we should treat each other like boyfriend/girlfriend {I hate those terms!} instead of boring ol’ marrieds.  We try to freshen up before we’re reunited at the end of a day apart, we ask questions to each other and engage in conversation, we flirt, we confide in each other, etc.  And we serve each other.  Tonight I was particularly stressed about one thing or another and I found myself venting to John.  As I was talking he asked if I could pass him my lotion, and he immediately started rubbing my feet as I expressed my concerns to him.  It meant so much to me.  I wasn’t expecting it at all, he just knew it would help me feel better.  And it did.

There is so much in life to be grateful for, but I think my boys are my grandest blessing of all.
