So you know when you’re out in public and you notice someone you know, but you either aren’t sure of their name or you aren’t sure it’s who you think it is, or you just aren’t feeling social enough to approach them?  So you just avoid them, don’t make eye contact, and neglect the mature path of saying hello. I do that allllllll the time.  In fact, I secretly hope that the person I recognize doesn’t see me or chooses to avoid me too, because I simply do not want to be social.  Being social can be so draining sometimes!  And I need to preserve my enegry, right?
New Goal:
I am going to say hello to everyone I know who I see in public.
Even if I have to go out of my way to flag them down.
Even if I don’t know their name.
{I’ll kindly ask them to remind me of it.}
No matter where I am.  I will say hello.
{Note: I will be considerate and keep the interaction brief, yet sincere.}
It may be you.
{Unless you are me ex.}
{In which case I will avoid you at all costs…}
And you may not want to be social and hope that I avoid you.
But I won’t.
And it will be awkward.
But I will feel releived.  And not anti-social.
And like I care about God’s children.
Because I do.

    Yesss! Remember when I ran into you waiting in line at the Missy Higgins/Joshua Radin concert and you barely remembered me?? hahaha! Can we run into each other again? I’d love that. 🙂

    So… Hadn’t said this yet but congrats!!! So exciting! Also, your style of writing is so great. I love reading everything you have to say! I agree with the awkwardly avoid if your not sure how you know them, I think maybe I should stop doing that too.
