Disneyland and Maui

JW and I are truly blessed. We have such great support from both of our families and it has been so much fun integrating ourselves with each other’s side. For Spring Break, JW’s parents took us on an extremely glamorous family vaca to Maui, by way of Disneyland. JW and I tagged along with Mama, Papa, Marsh, and Lib. In Disneyland we stayed at the Grand Californian, which is the same Disneyland hotel JW and I stayed at on our honeymoon. So it was extra special to us that we got to stay there. We had so much fun at the happiest place on Earth. I was surprised how great Libby did. She went on all the scary rides that she was tall enough to go on without batting an eyelash. Splash Mountain, Soaring Over California, Haunted Mansion, and Tower of Terror! I even get scared on those!! Just kidding, she totally didn’t go on Tower of Terror. Can you imagine?? She actually probably would if she were tall enough, come to think. She is a tough little cookie. Libby is so darling. She is so much fun to be with and is a great traveler. Highlights of Disneyland were Tower of Terror (that one terrifies me, screamed my head off, JW and Marsh had to plug their ears), California Screamin’ (got a little motion sick, but worth it), Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, and the Electric Parade. It was ALL wonderful, though. Here are some of our favorite pictures:

After a few days in Disneyland we headed to gorgeous Maui for about a week. I had never been to Hawaii before and everything about that place met and exceeded my hopes and dreams. We stayed at the Ho’olei Villas that are connected to the Grand Wailea Hotel. So the main hotel was right on the beach and our villa was across the street. But we had access to everything at the hotel, plus all the private and secluded features that came with the villas. If we wanted to go to the hotel we could call a little golf cart to come get us. Or we could walk, it really wasn’t that far. But we felt very posh calling a “scheufur,” if you will. (I don’t even know how to spell scheufur, that’s how posh I am not. It was fun to pretend, though. I felt like talking in a British accent all week!) We definitely got the royal treatment. We were greeted with leis by the hotel staff, which was right out of a movie for me! So cute. The week was filled with lots of swimming, golf for the guys, and manis, pedis, and shopping for the gals. When it was just the girls hanging out we would call it “Girl Time,” and Libby loved it so much. She would always talk about Girl Time and get so excited for it. She would tell the guys, “No boys allowed at girl time.” It made me feel like she really considers me her sister. I love it. We hiked to Twin Falls, too, and went snorkeling in a beautiful spot with absolutely clear water. The most exotic fish I have ever seen! We also went out to some incredible restaurants. Our favorite was the Humuhumunukunukuapua’i. Yup. It was named after the state fish. Marsh and JW got pretty good at saying that without stumbling or thinking about it too much. They took great pride in that. I take great pride in the fact that I can spell it! On the down side, I gained a SOLID five pounds. Super depressing. But people gain weight on vacas all the time, it’s not the end of the world. . . . right?? You can be assured, though, that I am on a very strict exercise regimen now. I’ll be fine. *crossing fingers and toes* Other than that we did a lot of swimming and relaxing, which is just what we all needed. Libby and I played some fun spelling games, too, and I taught her a really funny poem. She is so smart. I love my new family so much. It was so precious to me to get to know my in-laws better. They are incredible people.
My favorite part of the vacation was just being with JW for seven days straight (aside from the hours and hours of golf) in one of God’s most beautiful creations. I love going on vacation with JW. It’s like I see him in this completely different light when we’re away from the routine of our everyday life. I fell madly in love with him all over again in Hawaii. He is my prince. Snorkeling on our last day. How did I not get ANY sun in HAWAII?? That’s more impressive than getting a major tan in Hawaii, I’d say.IMG_1949IMG_1934
